**** Duties
For Greeters and
Ushers ****
Acolytes: Please arrive 15-20 minutes before service
and check in with The Rev’d Olsen when you arrive.
Prayers of the People/Chalice Bearer: Persons serving in this capacity will vest
in a black cassock and white cotta (and process in with the choir, sit in the
choir pews and leave with the choir during the closing hymn if they are so
inclined, otherwise sitting with the congregation).
Greeters: Persons
assigned as greeters will be located at the hallway entrance to the church to
hand out leaflets and greet the arriving parishioners. Please see to it the basket of food gets to
the narthex before the service begins.
Ushers:
Ushers will be located in the narthex at the front entrance of
the church. Duties: hand out leaflets, collect the offering and
one or both ushers to direct the rows during communion. Take basket of food to altar at the same
time offering is taken up. Also please
try to be aware of late arrivers and wait for an appropriate time to seat them.
Both Greeters and Ushers: Need to pay close attention to newcomers and
direct them to pews and introduce them to the prayer book and hymnal. If possible, and if the newcomer seems
receptive, try to seat them near or with a member who has been around awhile
and could assist them if they seem to be floundering. A
warm, friendly experience will encourage visitors to come again. Invite them for coffee after the service,
too!
** If you are unable to serve, it is your
responsibility to find a replacement. **
